Kyoto and Arashiyama are a common travel spot if you ever visit Japan. I don't have much experience traveling to Japan as much as other Hongkongers who treat Japan as going back to their 鄉下. So my experience or trip planning is only for my own reference.
We went to Japan in end of February and it was so cold and not even the sakura season yet.
Day 1:
We got off plane at Osaka Airport, and took the airport express JR line to Kyoto first, and stayed at Kyoto for the night at this small but cozy ryokan called Ebisu Ryokan and the room rate was only $234.6 per night when booked on Agoda. The room has TV, small fridge, even has its own bathroom which is rare for ryokan that usually don't have one.
Day 2:
Then next morning, we went off to Arashiyama by train.
Since we only stay in Arashiyama for 2 days 1 night, so we left our luggage at the ryokan and the host is super nice and let us leave our luggage there.
We stayed at this spring resort called 京都 嵐山溫泉 花傳抄 (Kadensho, Arashiyama Onsen, Kyoto - Kyoritsu Resort). It is only 3-5 minutes walk from Arashiyama Station.
Kyoto Arashiyama Onsen Kadensho (Kyoritsu Resort)Kadenjo is a great place to stay if you're looking for a traditional Japanese experience. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The spring water used in the baths is said to have healing properties, and it was definitely a relaxing experience. The free ramen and dessert at night was a nice touch, and it was the perfect way to end a long day of exploring.
The bamboo forest in Arashiyama is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kyoto. It's easy to see why - the towering bamboo stalks create a magical and otherworldly atmosphere.
We went in the afternoon around 3pm and it was really crowded. Nonetheless, we still managed to take some great photos by adjusting the angles and were able to take in the peace and tranquility. The Bamboo Forest was definitely a highlight of our trip.
The famous temple we visited was Tenryu-ji Temple. It's a beautiful temple that is worth seeing for its architecture and its serene setting. Tenryu-ji Temple is definitely worth visiting.
Day 3:
We went back to Kyoto the next morning, and stayed at the hotel 京都四條城市高級酒店 - 健身房及水療 (Urban Hotel Kyoto-Shijo Premium - Fitness & Spa). We booked a kimono photography session in Kyoto and visited the famous tourist spots like Gion, and the famous Kyoto temple, Kiyomizu-dera.
The kimono photography session was a lot of fun. We got to wear beautiful kimonos and have our pictures taken in some of the most iconic locations in Kyoto. It was a great way to experience Japanese culture and to get some amazing photos.
Gion is a traditional Japanese district that is known for its geisha. It was nice to walk around the beautiful streets and admiring the traditional architecture.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular temples in Kyoto. It is a beautiful temple that is worth seeing for its architecture and its location on a hillside overlooking the city.
We had a great time exploring Kyoto. It is a city with a rich history and culture, and there are so many things to see and do. If you're planning a trip to Japan, I highly recommend checking out Kyoto.
